Resolved Question: Princess cruises, good for teens?
Question
David asks: (1 week ago)
Hey, I’ve been on several Royal Caribbean cruises. They have been awesome, but for this summer I am going on the Grand Princess (Princess cruise line) and wondered if there is many teenagers (15-17) on board. As far as I have researched there seems to only be loads of older people.
Thanks
I’m going around the med (2 weeks) in the summer holidays

I’ve been on Princess a number of times and the age range has varied hugely. A lot depends when you go as of course there will be more teens during school holidays. Also, Caribbean type cruises will attract a younger/party crowd. But from experience, cruise duration plays its part too. Princess tends to have a large American following and Americans don’t get as much holiday time from work as those from the UK. So shorter week long cruises will attract younger professionals with kids whereas its the older generation that have the time to go on the longer cruises – and they won’t have have young kids with them – just zimmer frames!

I believe that destination and length of cruise are the primary determinant on Princess as to the “age” blend you’ll find on board. We did a 10-day Caribbean cruise on the Princess Emerald. Beautiful ship – but most older people on board (think white hair, walkers, etc.) For us, that wasn’t fun and we aren’t teenagers anymore ourselves.
I would still with a 7-day or less cruise on Princess going forward so that the passenger age is skewed younger. Have fun!

OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE PRINCESS!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the best cruise line on the face of the entire planet. I have been on 6 Princess cruises (number 7 just around the corner!), and they have been nothing short of amazing. There are usually a wide range of ages on the ships. On a few of the cruises, nearly 1,000 of the 3,000 passengers were kids. There is certainly a myth that Princess has mostly elderly people; that is so not true. Well, enjoy your Mediterranean cruise!
